Vintage U.F.O.

As I do almost every morning, I check the usual paranormal and UFO sites, Nick Redfern’s blogs being one of the usual places I visit. On his There’s Something in the Woods blog he left a brief comment:

Something Weird…
Something odd just occurred that I’ll update you on tomorrow. Basically, it was just the latest in a series of very weird synchronicities that have been going on…

I left the following comment:

You can’t leave us wondering like that!

Can’t wait to hear…

Had one of my own last night regarding Mothman.

A few moments after I left that comment, Nick sends me the following e-mail:

Thanks for the comment at my blog. Of all the people who could have commented, this makes it even weirder, as you are actually part of the story!I’ve been getting some very weird synchronicities recently – several of a cryptozoological nature; but specifically one of a UFO nature, too.

A few days ago, I was putting the final touches to the Dana Howard/Diane from Venus chapter to my “Contactees” book that you kindly shared your data for.

Well, right after completing all the work on that chapter, I took some towels out of the dryer. One of the towels, a yellow and pink one, Dana owned before we got married in 2001. So, we have had it for years, But, for all the time we have had the towel, I never bothered to read the writing on it – until I was folding the towel right after finishing your chapter.

Redfern is referring to the article I wrote on contactee Dana Howard for UFO Digest, which will also appear in Nick’s new book.)

He sent along a picture of the towel:

Naturally, when I saw that, I almost fell out of my chair!

Then I go back to my e-mail page which has news on it, and find the following article: Mysterious bright spot found on Venus”

A strange spot emerged on Venus last week, and astronomers are not sure what caused it. They hope future observations will reveal whether volcanic activity, turbulence in the planet’s atmosphere, or charged particles from the sun are to blame.

Spots on Venus have appeared before, yet the origins of the spots remain a mystery, as does the fact the atmosphere on Venus “rotates 60 times faster than the planet itself.”

So far, scientists aren’t sure what caused the Venus Spot, but, I love this comment from scientist Sanjay Limaye, Wisconsin-Madison University:

“It’s fair to say something unusual happened on Venus. Unfortunately, we don’t know what happened,” Limaye told New Scientist.

Indeed!

One last thing:
Speaking of things Venus, I realized this calendar has been hanging on the cork board in the “study” for years. I don’t go in there too often; (Jim uses it mostly) but I was in there today and so took a picture of it. I got this at least ten years ago from a friend who started a catering business in Portland, Oregon, called Kitchen Venus. I’ve never been there but I think it’s still there. When I first saw the image of the BVM and the “Venus Kitchen” title I just knew I had to have it. I had it in my kitchen for a long time, then moved it to the other room a few yeara ago. Interesting how whoever created the calendar used the BVM along with Venus, instead of, well, Venus, . . .
